William G. Wylie Jr

Born and raised on the family farm in Xenia Ohio, life for William G. Wylie Jr (Bill Wylie) began with the steady rhythm of chores, studies at Xenia High, and the simple rewards of play and TV. Coming from a structured home, the transition to employment in the U.S. Postal Service, Law Enforcements and U.S. Air Force felt natural. Driven by a desire to see the world beyond magazines and books, Bill traded the farm for the global stage.

The journey began with a challenging year on Shemya Island, Alaska – a tiny 2×4 mile rock where the routine was grueling and “R&R” was a foreign concept. Yet, this isolated start paved the way for a distinguished 20-year military career with assignments across France, England, Turkey and Germany. Retiring as a Master Sergeant.

A profound highlight of this time was visiting Hillmicke, Germany, where Bill stood on the very ground where his father had been wounded serving in the Army in 1945 during WWII. It was a powerful moment of gratitude, witnessing the place where God’s protection ensured his father’s survival and, ultimately, his own future.

Transitioning from military life to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Bill spent another 20 years protecting his community. Across four decades plus of service, he lived by a simple but powerful philosophy: use your brains before your fists. By the grace of God, he retired in 2005 without ever being injured or having to cause injury to another.

Today, Bill enjoys the “pure luxury” of retirement alongside his precious wife, Shirley, his daughters Tammy and Niki, and a growing legacy of grandchildren and great-granddaughters.
