Jerry Pfeifer, a native of Ohio, graduated from Alliance High School in 1959, Ohio University in 1963 (BBA), and the University of North Dakota (MBA) in 1976. Entering the Air Force in 1966, he served for 20 years in the aircraft maintenance/logistics career fields, and 4 years as a Minuteman Missile Launch Officer. In addition to several stateside assignments, he served in Vietnam, Germany, and England. On his retirement from the Air Force Jerry, his wife Carol and family settled in Beavercreek. They have two children (Andrew and Elissa) and four grandchildren. Jerry lost Carol in August 2022 after 58 wonderful years of marriage.
Since becoming a Greene county resident, Jerry held many leadership positions in the community. As Fairborn Service Center Manager for Dayton Power and Light he worked with local government agencies and developers to ensure reliable electric and gas infrastructure as the service territory grew and expanded. On September 21, 2000 he joined other DP&L supervisory personnel as First Responders to the F4 tornado that struck Xenia. The team provided 24/7 on site supervision throughout the restoration of service which was completed without incident.
Jerry held offices and served on the boards of many community organizations, such as the Fairborn Chamber of Commerce, the Green County YMCA, and Greene Inc. to mention a few. He is also an active supporter of our military community through the Miami Valley Military Affairs Association, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He has served on the All Volunteer Board of the Greene County Community Foundation, aka Greene Giving, since its inception in 2001 to the present. This charitable 501(c)(3) corporation has over 200 component organizations and manages assets valued at over $25 million. Greene Giving awarded grants and scholarships exceeding $2 million across the county last year.
